Soccer Hall of Fame Induction, 1998
Bio on Pat
Pat Grecco, inducted into the Long Island Junior Soccer League’s Hall of Fame in 1998, is a 30+ year volunteer within the soccer community. Pat has been Director of College Bound Player Programs for the LIJSL, serving as Director of Girls LIJSL ODP, Exceptional Senior Games and Scholarship Committee. Her children include Ellen Grecco-Gilmore of Fairfield, CT, who played club and Varsity soccer, a Fordham University graduate. Beth Grecco-Gothers, of East Granby, CT., a National Pool Player, full scholarship recipient to University of Connecticut and 3 X All-America Selection and son Frank Jr., a graduate United States Naval Academy where he was a four-year Varsity soccer player at Navy…a Captain, in the United States Marine Corps…A genuine soccer family, Pat's husband, Frank is a referee.
Pat has personally helped more players get to college... many with full scholarships... than anyone on this planet. Mrs. Grecco has volunteered thousands of hours of her time and always finds time to help a disadvantaged family with a difficult problem. She is currently working to identify Hispanic players in her region who need help with the college search process. Sometimes offering pro-bono help to anyone who asks; however, in recent years, a spin off of her volunteer work, came about. In addition to Soccer and Lacrosse, she have worked with numerous student-athletes, representing nearly every sport, as well as lesser-known sports such as Fencing, Rifle/Pistol, Crew,
Cheerleading and even Chess, to name a few. It gives her great pleasure to help others, be they the best athletes, best students, or perhaps a student who struggles in school; she recently worked with a home-schooled soccer player from Florida. She also has placed many international soccer players, this year a young man from Belgium who is at Clark University in Ma. Best of all and its true, she does boast a 100% success rate. “There is a school for every one to play as well as to study, that’s what make America such a great country”
My most important offering is to find the very best academic opportunities for the student athletes with whom she works. “Using your sport to open the heavy door of the admissions process is worth more than money”
Note: In addition to soccer, Pat also helps high school students find college opportunities in the following sports and related sports activities: Lacrosse, Football, Swimming & Diving, Baseball, Tennis, yes even chess; also Track, Volleyball, Basketball, Ice Hockey, Fencing, Wrestling, Softball, Cheerleading, Kickline, Marching Band, and last but not least Rugby.
